Today begins my daily oatmeal journey. The month of November will be treating my body to a daily dose of oatmeal-whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner- I will be feasting on the oatmeal. Now the challenge is to make it in a variety of ways and it must be nutritious. After all, that’s the point!!! In fact, I am preparing my first homemade oatmeal. Imagine that!!! Yesss. I am as old as the dickens yet I have never prepared oatmeal except to add water to the instant packets. Surprisingly, this was actually easy. I followed the simple directions and while the milk boiled I began to write this blog so that it could be just as fresh as my oatmeal. One glance later and the milk was rising up angrily, I added the oats, stirred, snapped a few photos and continued to write. Another glance later and tadaaa... My oatmeal was ready for consumption. Poured it in one of my favorite cups, a squeeze of honey and now I’m delighting in the yummyness of it all (Please note I make up words to emphasize my point).
Alas, I must go now and concentrate on treating my internal system to some antioxidants, fiber, minerals, vitamins, improve my blood sugar and lower my cholesterol. If I shed some pounds, I’ll be sure to share with you.
