Can you believe that it is already June and we are five days into the month where summer officially begins? April showers, extended to May and June has also started off with lots of rainy days. While I am grateful for the showers of blessings, I need more dry sunny days to get outdoors and go for my runs.

What's the remedy? What's the plan? How will I be able to make the magic happen and be the best version of my healthy and fit self? For starters, I have begun to make some modifications to my diet.
Homemade oatmeal with fresh fruits (Apples and blackberries)
Summer officially begins on June 21st and ends on September 21st. My summer plans include quite a bit of traveling and I plan to get my fitness in wherever and whenever I can. As far as my diet, it will be a mix of fruits, vegetables, water among other nutritious choices. It will be a summer filled with fitness and fun.
So I made a bowl of oatmeal and added some fruits.
In addition to reducing the risks of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and hypertension, there are other benefits found in apples -

  • Great source of antioxidants
  • Dietary fiber
  • Flavanoids
  • Helps to control weight
  • Detoxify the liver
  • Prevent cataracts
  • Improves immune system
Benefits of blackberries
  • High in fiber
  • High in manganese
  • Boost brain health
  • Improves oral health
  • Great source of vitamin K
  • Rich in Vitamin C
  • Vitamin B
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin E

And of course we have the oatmeal which offers an enormous amount of health benefits. Let's start with the fiber which helps to keep our colon clean. That's right, we love fiber, it serves as the janitorial system in cleaning up the colon allowing the bowels to ease on out of the system. In addition, they are high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It also helps to lower our cholesterol and blood sugar levels, along with protecting our heart.

I have work to do. It can be done. Moving right along.
